A 2 and a half hour tour of this fascinating city and its environs.
We provide a memorable introduction to the history and culture of the capital city of the North East.
Our Executive vehicles, including five and six seat MPVs, offer the opportunity for you and up to five companions to enjoy a personal guided tour of the key sights in this city which has played a major role in the economic and industrial development of the country since the 10th Century.
You will see the renaissance of the Quayside – the focal point of the city’s life over 2000 years – with its magnificent and breathtaking panorama of bridges; a testament in themselves to the creative genius and industrial innovation of the great Geordie inventors and industrialists of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Whilst touring a city with more ‘listed buildings’ and architecturally acclaimed areas than any other outside London you will gain an appreciation of the pivotal role the area and its workers played in the development of such fundamental inventions as the Incandescent Lamp (by Joseph Swan) and the Steam Turbine (developed by Charles Parsons and essentially the motive force in electrical generation to this day).
You will visit the fascinating Discovery Museum to view the 65 ft. working model ship ‘Turbinia’ which Parsons demonstrated at the Spithead Review in 1897, to the astonishment of the Lords of the Admiralty, which ultimately led to the conversion of the Royal Navy to turbine propelled vessels.Come with us to experience the sights of a city which is steeped in history and yet at the cutting edge of modern developments in science, micro-technology and medicine. A city where the past goes hand in hand with the future: inhabited by a people renowned for their open and friendly nature, fun loving lifestyle and cosmopolitan taste in everything from music and the arts to restaurants and theatre.
The tour will include a visit to the ultra modern and impressive developments on the Gateshead Quays across the river Tyne where the Baltic Gallery and Sage Music Centre
provide further evidence of the remarkable regeneration of this unique area, with a history and heritage woven into every aspect of the lives of all Tynesiders.
A people with a sense of true history and their part in it – proud and resilient.
